Althea M. Gardner

Althea M. Gardner 86 of New Stanton, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Heritage Valley Hospital, Beaver, PA. Althea was born May 9, 1928 in New Stanton the daughter of the late Richard Paul and Nellie King McGuffey. Althea was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, New Stanton and prior to her marriage to John J. Gardner was employed at the former Robertshaw Controls Co. Surviving are her children, Iris Gardner of Ambridge and Amy Guzzy and husband Eric of Irwin; a granddaughter, Alexa Guzzy; a sister, Hilda M. Hauger and a brother Donald P. McGuffey both of New Stanton and a brother William H. McGuffey of Tuxedo, New York. In addition to her parents, Althea was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1988. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 PM Tuesday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant 724-547-2122 and from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday to St. Mark's Lutheran Church 126 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, New Stanton, PA 15672, where services will be held at 11AM with Pastor Anne Woodman-Howe officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Althea may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army 131 E. Otterman Street Greensburg, PA 15601.
