Betty J. Plahs

Betty J. Plahs 83, of Mount Pleasant went to heaven to be our angel on November 16, 2016. Betty was born July 10, 1933 in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of the late Russel Sherman and Alice McCurdy Sherman. She was predeceased by her daughter Judy Plahs-Hash, a grandson William Plahs, ex-husband John P. Plahs, a brother James Sherman Sr., stepmother Menota Sherman and a stepbrother Charles Hubbert. Betty was a member of the Acme United Methodist Church in Acme, was formerly employed by Gasland, Monticue's Restaurant and Tall Cedars Restaurant in Donegal.. She was also a member of the Wellness Center at Highlands Hospital in Connellsville PA. Betty was a person who knew many, she loved dogs, babies, and loved the fur-babies of all her family members. Betty would sit on her front porch and give treats to the neighborhood dogs (one in particular Bailey) and loved for Jemma to visit from next door, enjoyed shopping and walking through stores, especially Walmart, talking to everyone. Betty was also known as the pizza maker of the neighborhood, she would make pizza to take to her neighbors and friends and a great cook who loved making meals for her family. Her pastime was putting puzzles together with Cora and had a love of flowers especially, white roses. Betty is survived by her children, Cora, with whom she resided and took great care of, Sandy and husband Jim Goodwin of Uniontown, John Plahs and Sherry Hoffer of Acme, Jackie Layman of Mt Pleasant, Joe and wife Debbie Plahs of Kinsdale Virginia, Connie and husband John Kropp of Connellsville, Kim Hodgkiss and Danny Jones of Scottdale, and Chuck and wife Cindy Plahs of Stahlstown ; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, also survived by a sister Mary Edna Mardis of Ruffsdale and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and her community . Betty's request was to have everyone visit her when she passed in causal clothes. Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant where services will be held at 10AM Monday with Rev.
