Betty Jane Stitt, 90, of New Stanton, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital Greensburg, PA. Betty was born on September 26, 1922 in Cherry Tree, Indiana County, the daughter of the late Bert Smith and Elsie (Miller) Barber. Betty was a 1940 Graduate of the former Cherry Tree High School, was formerly employed as a Sales Clerk for the Real Nice Dress Shop in Leetsdale, was a member of the New Stanton, Youngwood and Hunker Senior Citizens, a former member and officer of the Women's Club and leader of the Church Circle Group and the Moose Club in Ambridge. Betty was a member of the New Stanton United Methodist Church ; she was also active in delivering Meals on Wheels in the Area. Surviving are her husband, James W. Stitt; a son , Samuel James Stitt and wife Shirley (Yezek) Stitt of Mount Pleasant and a grandson, Jason James Stitt of Mount Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, infant, Bert Eugene Barber and Franklin O. Barber and an infant sister, Vivian Miller Barber. Family and friends of Betty are invited from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8PM Tuesday to the SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE, INC. 730 W.
