Curtis A. King 89 of Mount Pleasant Twp. passed away Sunday August 16, 2015 at the Greensburg Care Center. Curt was born July 20, 1926 in Bridgeport (Mt. Pleasant Twp.) the son of the late William H. and Mary Blanda King. Curt attended Hurst High School, was a member of the Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren and was a WWII Navy Veteran stationed at RTC Sampson, NY, on the USS Martin H. Ray DE-338, an escort ship to the destroyers, where he was in charge of raising the flag daily, and the Naval Staging center in Pearl Harbor, HI. As a honorably discharged veteran, Curt received the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Asiatic Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446 and the VFW Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant. Curt was formerly employed as a draftsman by Moore Metals, Greensburg and was an avid golfer playing various courses in the area, attaining a hole-in-one in 1983. Surviving are his brothers and sisters, Carl King, John King (Patty) Evelyn Kuhn, Lillian King, Dorothy Kuhn, Linda King (Rich) all of Mt. Pleasant and Paul King (Betty) of TX; also numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Curt was preceded in death by his wife Doris Newell King in 2005; brothers, William and Robert King; sisters, Ramona Pasko and Mary Miller; sister-in-law, Linda King and brothers-in-law, Donald Shaw, Sam Miller, Michael Pasko, James (Jess) Kuhn and Edward Kuhn, a niece, Victoria King and a great nephew Milton Earnesty. Friends are invited from 2 to 8PM Thursday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant 724-547-2122 where services will be held at 11AM Friday with Pastor Lee Smith officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by American Legion post 446, Mt. Pleasant will follow in the Mt. Joy Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Twp.
