Donald R. Leeper 83 of Acme passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday November 8, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Donald was born November 22, 1932 in Mutual the son of the late John R and Josephine Zimmerman Leeper. Donald was a member of the Acme United Methodist Church, a Korean War Army veteran, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, a former heavy equipment operator until joining his parents in 1963 as an employee of Leeper's Market, and in 1983, became the owner along with his brother, Richard. He and his wife, purchased the former Monitcue's restaurant, establishing the Candlelight Restaurant in Donegal. Don was also a former member of the Lion's Club, Donegal American Legion and was a winter resident for over 20 years of Bellair Estates and was on the board, Lakewood Park, Fort Pierce FL. Don was also an avid fisherman holding a commercial license to sell the numerous fish he caught. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Shirley Gray Leeper; children, Donald A. Leeper (Doreen) of Old Bridge, NJ, Robert Leeper (Donna) and Pamela Knopsnider of Acme; grandchildren, Donald Leeper III (Jessica), Bobbie Leeper (Shawn Sloan), Candy Clark(Jeremy), Jennifer Leeper, Christina Williams(Clarence) and Jasmine Madden; eight great grandchildren and his brother, Richard Leeper(Ann "Tiny") of Acme. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Knopsnider. Family and friends are invited from 2 to 8 PM Sunday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W, Main Street Mt. Pleasant where services will be held at 10AM Monday with Rev. John Logan officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Joy Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Twp.
