Norvelt

Dorothy J. Vidakovich, 92 of Norvelt passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 21, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her side. Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Hurst High School and a longtime member of St. Florian Roman Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a woman of great faith, strength, and compassion. Most of all Dorothy cherished her family. She was gifted with the natural ability to make everyone feel loved. The annual Sofranko Family Reunion, which was started 39 years ago by Dorothy and her 5 siblings, was a very special time for her to catch up with extended family. Over the years she created photo albums for every grandchild and great grandchild, capturing precious memories that they all treasure. Until last year, she and her only living sibling, Valeria, carried on a family tradition lasting more than 50 years of gathering weekly for fun and games and a glass of wine! Surviving are her children, Annette Solomon and her husband Kevin, Doreen Tracy and her husband Dan and Mark Vidakovich and his wife Amy: grandchildren, Jacob Solomon, Mallory Palmer and her husband, David and their children, Brooklyn, Blaykley and Bryelle; Caitlin and her children, Colton and Tucker, Ryan Tracy and Lauren Tracy; Justin Vidakovich and his wife Stella, Stephen Vidakovich, Rachel Vidakovich and Antonio, Tyler Dreistadt and his wife Alexis and their children, Demi, Dane and Daxton, Hanna Mears and husband Austin and their children, Lakyn and Brynlee;  a sister, Valeria Wolk and brother in law, John Vidakovich and her cat, Miss Kitty.  In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas M. Vidakovich; sisters, Margaret Pavick, Helen Kapura and Elizabeth Tirdil and a brother, John Sofranko. The family would like to thank the staff of Bridges Hospice caregivers, Monaca, Sarah, and many others for their kind and considerate care of Dorothy.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3-8pm Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at SLATER-REGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC 730 W MAIN STREET MT PLEASANT where parting prayers will be held at 9:15am Wednesday, May 29, 2024 followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am at St. Florian Roman Catholic Church, United.
