Edward M. Kuhn, Sr. 81 of Mount Pleasant passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital. Ed was born October 4, 1932 in Mount Pleasant, a son of the late Milton S. and Kathryn Hostoffer Kuhn. Ed was a former member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant, a 1950 Graduate of Ramsay High school where he participated on the varsity teams of baseball, track, basketball and football graduating with twelve varsity letters. Ed later went on to play professional baseball with the Chicago White Sox and was inducted into the FayWest Hall of Fame in 1986. He excelled at golf holding a single digit handicap and attaining 3 hole in one's and was a competitive bowler winning numerous trophy's. He was a Army veteran of the Korean War as a helicopter mechanic, a member of American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant, VFW Post 3368 and the former Mount Pleasant Elks. Ed was a butcher by profession and was the co-owner of the Hostoffer Meat Packing Service, Mt. Pleasant and later was employed by the food service department at St. Vincent College, Latrobe. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Evelyn King Kuhn; children, Edward M. Kuhn, Jr. and Jeffrey Berry of Greensburg, Lynn Kuhn of Acme, Lori Kuhn of Mount Pleasant and David Kuhn and his wife Barbara of McMurray; his grandchildren, Synclaire Evelyn and karsyn Marie; brothers and sisters-in-law Dennis Radebaugh, Carl King, Curtis King, Lillian King, Dorothy Kuhn, Paul King, John King and Linda King; also numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was the last member of his immediate family, in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Kay Marks and Carol Radebaugh; a brother, James "Jess" Kuhn; brothers-in-law, Robert Marks, William King, Robert King, Michael Pasko, Sam Miller and Donald Shaw; sisters-in law, Mary Miller, Ramona Pasko, Linda King, Doris King and a niece Vickie King. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 8 PM Sunday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant 724-547-2122 where services will be held at 11AM Monday. Interment with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Please visit www.saloom-rega.com to send a condolence.
