Elsie Mae McConnell Zylka 94 of Mount Pleasant passed away Tuesday July 8, 2014. Elsie was born September 25, 1919 in Mount Pleasant the daughter of the late Harry and Pearl Kuhns McConnell. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant and former owner of Elsie's Ceramics, Mt. Pleasant. Surviving are her children, Connie Steiner and husband Bill of Mount Pleasant, Elsie Bugosh and husband Ed of Scottdale, Betty Hatter and husband Dave and John Zylka, Jr. and wife Penny of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Lisa Walters, Dana Schambura, Bill Steiner Jr., David Bugosh, Ann Marie Gove, Laura Livingood, Renee Hatter, John Zylka III, Benjamin Zylka, Jennie Lucchetti and Bethany Watson; great grandchildren, April Niyamuddin, Megan Schambura, Clifford Walters III, Brianna Gove, Gabrielle Gove, David Bugosh, Jr, Troy Klepsky, Justin Klepsky, Ktlyn Beard, Derek Miller, Sarah Zylka, Luke Zylka, Kharisma, Khalya and Khredance Zylka, Jacob and Joseph Lucchetti and Sophia Watson; great-great grandson Brayden Beard: a brother, Gerald McConnell of CA; sisters, Mary May and Jean Michalchak of Mt. Pleasant Twp, Rosalie Garchar of Scottdale and Ruth Washburn of FL and Carolyn Smith of OH. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband John S. Zylka, Sr. in 1979, a great-great granddaughter, Madisyn Klepsky; brothers, Earl, Wilkus, Charles and Frank McConnell and sisters, Fern Newman, June Grimm and Alice Kreinbrook. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Thursday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant (724-547-2122) where a blessing service will be held at 11:30AM Friday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment will follow in the St. Pius X Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held at 3PM Thursday in the funeral home.
