Frances E. Poole Keslar

Frances E. Poole Keslar, 91 of Tarrs, PA passed away Friday November 30, 2012 at the Easy Living Estates, Hunker. Frances was born April 22, 1921 in Tarrs the daughter of the late Elmer W. and Ruth M. Love Poole, who passed in 1973 and 1982 respectively. Frances graduated from East Huntingdon High School with the class of 1938 and the Greensburg Business School in 1942. She was employed at King-Murphy Press in Greensburg for a short time, then worked in the office of the Ohringer Home Furniture Store, Greensburg for 15 years. Frances retired from the Southwest National Bank, Greensburg after 27 years of service in the accounting department during which time she completed several courses with the American Institute of Banking. Frances was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church where she was a Youth Leader, Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir , helped with the United Methodist Women serving on the district and sub-district level and did other numerous jobs. She was the State General Secretary of the Pennsylvania Youth Temperance Council for 10 years, a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union from an early age and became county president for 10 years. Frances was active with Meals on Wheels and was the assistant secretary of the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Association for 36 years, since no woman could serve on the board. Surviving are her step-daughters, Daunice Keslar of West Newton and Paula Keslar of SC; sister, Jennie Ruth Fink of Ruffsdale; sister-in-law Florence Poole of Tarrs; nephew, Charles Poole and wife Peggy of Tarrs, neices, Carol Slingluff of Youngwood, Connie Mozina of Irwin, Linda Morgan of Hecla and LuAnn Vincent and husband Roger of Tarrs; also numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Keslar, a brother, H. Gerald Poole,Sr., nephews, Rev. Henry Gerald Poole, Jr and Marshall Poole and a niece Kathy Poole Vance. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Sunday and 12 to 1PM Monday to the SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE, INC 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant (724-547-2122) where services will be held at 1PM Monday with the Rev. Tim Hoover officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs. Memorials in memory of Frances may be made to the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Foundation Fund, Main Street Mount Pleasant, PA 15666.
