Frank L. Plazza Sr., 82, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Scottdale Manor, Scottdale. Frank was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Paul and Mary Anna Niezgoda Plazza. Frank was a member of St. Pius X Church, Mt. Pleasant, was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant and receiving the National Defense, United Nations and Korean Service Medals. He was a self-employed cabinet maker and a former member of the VFW Post 3368, Mt. Pleasant. Surviving are his children, Frank L. Plazza Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Scottdale, and Lori Ann Kooser and husband, Douglas, of Connellsville; grandchildren, Justan and Tyler Kooser, Christi Klu and Robert and Tina Loebach; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Marian and Malachi; and a sister, Helen Wawrzyniak, of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by brothers, John, Joseph and Walter; and sisters, Sophie, Ann, Mary and Frances. The family is inviting friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE, 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant (724-547-2122), where a blessing service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Dennis Bogusz as celebrant. Interment with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant, will follow in the Transfiguration Cemetery.
