George Labasky

December 3, 1933 — March 9, 2014

George Labasky 80 of Ruffsdale passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Excela Health Frick Hospital Mount Pleasant. George was born December 3, 1933 in East Huntingdon Twp. the son of the late John W and Mildred Bastaich Labasky. George was a 1951 graduate of East Huntingdon High School and was drafted into the Army during the start of the Vietnam War where he served his time proudly receiving an honorable discharge. He was employed with the Mikel company as a truck driver and a former foreman at Malsbury Co., Uniontown, however he excelled as a certified welder and fabricator, known as one of the best in the area. George loved racecars and motorcycles, driving at Motordrome Speedway and riding his Harley Davidson. He was a hard worker who loved dancing and his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his face would light up when they walked in the room, he taught them to live life to the fullest. George was also a member of American Legion Post 446 Mount Pleasant. Surviving are his wife, Peggy McKee Labasky whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June; children, Lori Bates and fiance Sam Accipter and Vicki Tusing; grandchildren, Michael K. Bates, Jr and fiance Denise Platt and her son, Bryce Platt; George and Elizabeth Tusing; Great granddaughter Briyanna B. Bates; brother, John Labasky and wife Linda of Hutchinson and sister, Sara Geckle of Tarrs; also several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by an infant sister, Catherine Labasky, and a sister Betty. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 5 pm Weds to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount PLeasant (724-547-2122) where services will be held Weds at 5pm with Pastor Bonnie King officiating.
