Gerald G. "Gib" Hayes

Gerald "Gib" Hayes 91 of Mount Pleasant ( East Huntingdon Twp.) passed away Sunday February 28, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital, Aspinwall. Gerald was born April 2, 1924 in White the son of the late Fred D. and Tura M. Knopsnyder Hayes. Gerald was a 1942 graduate of East Huntingon High School, a WWII Army veteran and a Prisoner of War, captured in Czechoslovakia. Gerald was formerly employed in sales for the Masonite (Marlite) Corp for over 27 years, Ruth Lumber and self-employed with partner Ralph Christner in construction, building and remodeling homes. Gerald was a member of Paradise United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant, D.A.V., life member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, N.R.A., Marion Lodge F & AM #562. Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, a 32nd degree Masonic member of Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory, Westmoreland Tall Cedars Forrest #77 and Syria Shriner A.A.O.M.S. Surviving are his children, Beverly J. Gazmen and Debbie Sue Hayes of Columbia, MD.; grandchildren, John V. Gazmen, Paula Smith, Brian Wisniewski, Kristen Rub and Jill Hayes Nordberg, also 10 Great-grandchildren; brothers Fred W Hayes and Regina of Ligonier and John R. Hayes and Vicki of Tipton, PA In addition to his parents. Gerald was preceded on death by his wife Pauline L. Hovanec Hayes in 2003, a son Gerald G. Hayes, Jr. a brother, Harry G. Hayes and a sister Jean Butler. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 8 PM Thursday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant 724-547-2122. Gerald's funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday at the Paradise United Methodist Church 105 Hoke Road Mt. Pleasant ( Everyone please meet at the Church). Interment with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant will follow in Greenlick Cemetery, Bullskin Twp.
