Geraldine Levergood Kennedy Cooper, of Scottdale, passed away on Friday afternoon, October 12, 2018 in St. Anne Home, Greensburg at the age of 99.
She was born on April 25, 1919 to the late Lorraine Roland and George Levergood of Dickerson Run, PA. In addition to her parents, she was predeaseased by her first husband J. Robert Kennedy and her second husband William J. Cooper; a son Robert L. Kennedy; a daughter Sandra L. Sobinsky; a brother John W. Levergood and a sister Wanda G. Murray.
She received a high school diploma in 1935 from the former Dunbar Twp. High School, a R.N. from the former H.C. Frick Memorial Nursing School, a B.S. Degree from California University of PA and an M.E. Degree from Indiana University of PA.
She retired in 1985 after 36 years of service, including being a charge nurse at Connellsville Hospital, as a school nurse at Dunbar Twp. School District and as a guidance counselor at Connellsville Area High School.
She is survived by her cherished family, son-in-law James Sobinsky of Mt. Pleasant; a step daughter Nancy G. Wallace of Florida; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
She leaves a legacy of charity, service, faith, optimism and love.
Family and friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Monday in the SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE, 730 W. Main Street, Mount Pleasant where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16 with the Rev. Lee Maley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
