Gertrude (Trudy) E. Kimmell

Gertrude Elizabeth (Trudy) Kimmell, 76 of Ruffsdale passed away September 15, 2023 at Excela Health Frick Hospital.  Trudy was born on May 21, 1947 in Greensburg the daughter of the late Berle and Margaret (Peg) Farren Miller.  She was a 1965 graduate of Sewickley High School, Herminie and was formerly employed by Robertshaw Controls and Westinghouse Corporations. Trudy was a board member of the Old Time Fiddler's Association for many years and worked at the concession stand at the Motordrome Speedway. Trudy along with her late husband Ron, loved all animals, their raccoons, turkeys, deer, and birds, which they fed; her two cats, Peanut and Bubby and her granddogs, Vegas and Crosby. She loved taking care of her lawn which kept her busy and enjoyed donating to various area charities. Surviving is her son, Ron Kimmell and partner Christine Gratson,  her son Hunter Schwartz his wife Kathleen and son James; numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend for over 60 years,Wanda Welsh, Maryann Rackaczky and Bob and Rhonda Simone.  In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Ronald Kimmell and a brother Alan Miller. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the Turkeytown and East Huntingdon VFD and Dr. Morcos and staff at the Hillman Cancer Center at Frick Hospital.  In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Trudy may be made to a charity of choice.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11am to 4pm Friday, September 22, 2023 at SLATER-REGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC 730 W. MAIN STREET MT. PLEASANT where services will be held at 4pm with Rev Tom Shirer officiating. Following the service a reception will be held in the social hall of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion.
