Harold "Pete" C. Burd, 100, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025 at Independence Health Excela Frick Hospital. Harold was born on January 27,1925 in West Virginia the son of the late George B. and Ethel Stewart Burd.Harold was a WWII Navy Veteran, he held the rank of Torpedoman, second class. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Pacific Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal, he was stationed at USNTS Great Lakes, Ill, USNRS Base San Diego and NAS Pearl Harbor. He was self employed as the proprietor of Schmitz Tires, Connellsville and a member of Marion Lodge #562 Connellsville PA. Harold is survived by his children, Debbie Sue Shawley, Cindy Arrotti (Fred ) and John D. Burd (Cindy): grandchildren, Sue Shawley Plowman (Dan), Joshua Burd (Beth), Tanner Burd, Tyler Burd, Zach Burd (Laura), Matt Arrotti (Emily), Travis Burd (Alicia), Mia Burd (Zach) and Iris Burd.; also 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Sara M. Burd in 1992; a son Clyde "Skip" Burd, brothers, William Charles "Jack" Burd and George "Jim" Burd and son in law Glenn Shawley. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm, at the SLATER-REGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. where services will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 11am with Pastor Gary Witt officiating. Interment with military honors provided by American Legion Post 446 and VFW Post 3368 Mt. Pleasant will be held at the Green Ridge Memorial Cemetery, Connellsville.
