Hedwig Lackner 94 of Ridgewood, NY passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at the home of her son in Latrobe (Unity Twp.), PA. Hedwig was born October 4, 1921 in Verdreng, Yugoslavia the daughter of the late Franz and Josephine Gasparitsch Schemitsch. Hedwig was a faithful member of St Matthias Roman Catholic Church in Ridgewood, was formerly employed by Shep & Charlie Morris knitting mill as a merrow operator, she was a wonderful cook and loved to bake for her beloved family. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to those who survive her, loving son Frank (Joan) Lackner of Latrobe, PA; devoted grandsons, Joseph (Cathie) Pisk, Eric (Kimberly) Pisk and Mark Pisk; great -grandchildren, Jennifer, Joseph, Taylor, Jackson, Jessica and Gianna Pisk; step-grandsons, Jerry (Alison), Paul, Chuck and Drew (Phyllisis) Kraisinger and step-great grandchildren, Laura, Joe, Tara, Cameron, Jon Paul, Owen, Elizabeth and Anna; son-in-law, Joseph Pisk; sisters-in-law, Lina Lackner and Maria "Mitzi" Mische; nieces and nephews, Reinhard and John Schmuck, Joseph and Werner Sommer, Ingrid Samperi, Edmund Schemitsch, Irene Tramposch, Traudi Karr, Linda Rodkey, John Lackner, Mildred Wolfe, and Heidi Kirmaier, who unselfishly rendered invaluable assistance during Hedwig's illness. In addition to her parents, Hedwig was preceded in death by her husband Michael Lackner in 1985; an infant daughter Elfriede Lackner, loving daughter and cherished friend, Hilda Pisk in 1990 and sisters, Josephine Schmuck, Maria "Mimi" Schemitsch and Stephanie Sommer. Friends are invited from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9PM Thursday to the Morton Funeral Home, Ridgewood Chapels 663 Grandview Avenue Ridgewood, NY 11385. Hedwig's funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:15 AM in St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church 5815 Catalpa Avenue, Ridgewood, NY Interment will follow in Cypress Hills Cemetery.
