Helen L. Deforrest (Niehenke) 92 of Greensburg passed away Wednesday May 1, 2024. She was born in Somerset, February 18, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Myrtle(Barron) Niehenke. Helen is survived by her children. Richard (Dickie) Deforrest of Tarrs, Linda Pickens of Scottdale, John Deforrest (Deb) of Ruffsdale and Tammy Phipps (Kevin) of Greensburg, with who she resided. Grandchildren, Richie, Doug(Michelle) Deforrest, Brian Pickens (Pam), Scott Pickens, Matthew and Kelsey Deforrest, Amber Harper (Nik), Kaylee and Abby Phipps; great grandchildren, Emma, Derek, Joelle, Alex, Caydan, Easton, Kody (Krista), Logan, Courtney and Katie. Also surviving are her brothers Ray Niehenke (Shirley) of Greensburg and Jay Niehenke (Judy) of North Belle Vernon. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Richard Deforrest in 1998 and siblings, Ida Nicholson, Cora Deforrest, Betty Johns, Myrtle Niehenke, Elmer, Leroy, John and Patricia Niehenke and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Deforrest (Frosty) and son-in-law David Pickens. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 8pm Friday at SLATER-REGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC 730 W. MAIN STREET MT PLEASANT where services will be held at 7pm.
