Iris Elaine Bert

Iris Elaine (Rolla) Bert of (Weltytown) Latrobe, age 88, passed away peacefully November 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Westmoreland Hospital. She was born in Mt. Pleasant on December 10, 1935, the daughter of the late John and Tabitha Frye Rolla. 

She was a 1953 graduate of Hurst High School and a secretarial school in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Trauger where she was the organist for the Jr choir for many years, in addition to preparing the church bulletin. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loved them all very much. 

She retired from Frick Hospital and was previously employed by the PA State Police, Drs. Newman and Caretti and Glass Beads. She was an avid reader, loved working crossword puzzles, and sitting on the porch with her pets Tyler and Charlie. 

She is survived by daughters: Mary Olinger (Roy), Crystal Hoke (Jim), Roberta Storey (Jeff) and Melanie Cooper (Eric). Grandchildren, Colleen McBride (Jason), Kyle & Kurt Olinger, Callie Neiderhiser (Luke), Priscilla Storey, Tabitha Kline (Corey), Great Grandchildren: Jason McBride Jr (Maddy), Jayden & Vonny McBride, Jaxson, Judson and Jagger Neiderhiser and Kane Matthews & Dallas Storey. Great great grandson Asher McBride and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Dale E. Rolla and wife Amy. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Bert, her sister Hollie Rolla and grandson Jimmy Hoke Jr. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday and 10am to 11am Saturday at SLATER-REGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant where services will be held at 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
