John C. Airhart 70 of Oakmont passed away Monday July 11, 2016 at the Akron General Hospital, Akron, OH. John was born December 9, 1945 in Pittsburgh the son of the late Charles W. and Thelma Whetzell Airhart. John was a 1963 graduate of East Huntingdon High School, was a Vietnam war veteran serving with the Navy on the USS Independence, the USS Josephus Daniels and the USS Koelsch receiving the National Defense and Good Conduct Medals. John was employed by Cal-Ark Trucking as a truck driver. Surviving are his wife Eilene Loughner Airhart; daughters, Serena Jenkins (David) of Valencia, Victoria Boggs(Joe) of Oakmont, Melissa Kuhn (Jim) of Penn Hills and Monyque Bruchey of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Alexis, Christian and Mercedes Wachter, Tessa and Tara Jenkins, Amber Bunch, Rosie Shipley, Shawn and Christopher Airhart; a great grandchild Avery; a sister, Nancy Yusko (Joseph) of Erie and a brother Carl Airhart (Nancy) of NC; also nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Tony Airhart. Friends and family are invited from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM Friday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant 724-547-2122 where services will be held at 10AM Saturday with Rev. Gregory Butler officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 446 will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs. In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to the National Hydrocephalus Association 4340 East West Hwy Suite 905 Bethesda MD 20814.
