John Gallo 91 of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. John was born on October 22, 1930 in Falerna, Italy the son of Jack and Rose Matire Gallo, and immigrated to the United States along with his mother and brothers in 1937. He was a 1947 graduate of Vandergrift High school and an Army Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. A graduate of the Pittsburgh Scoll of engineering, earning his degree in Industrial engineering. He was formerly employed as an engineer by US Steel, and Edgewater Steel Corp, Oakmont as the director of purchasing and traffic. His memberships include the Youghogheny Country Club in Elizabeth for 40 years and past member of the McKeesport Presbyterian Church. John also held memberships in the VFW Post 3368 and American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant where he was a proud member of the military honor guard and also was a volunteer with Amedsys Hospice Care. He was an avid golfer, having had 6 holes in one during his lifetime. Surviving is his daughter, Rhonda J. Gallo Hodge and husband, Kenneth of Alverton; daughter-in-law, Laura Henry Gallo of Boynton Beach, FL, a sister Mary Maruca of Marlton, NJ; also nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Lois J. Hitchens Gallo, son, John W. Gallo, brothers, Mario and Dominic Gallo and brother-in-law Giacinta Maruca MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday and from 10am to 11am Friday at SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant where services will begin at 11am with Rev. Vince Velas officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, McKeesport. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 446 and VFW Post 3368 Mt. Pleasant immediately following the service at the funeral home.
