John "Jack" P. McKenna

John "Jack" Patrick McKenna 82 of Mount Pleasant passed away peacefully Saturday, January 4, 2014 at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born March 25, 1931 in Mount Pleasant the son of the late Francis and Tillie Keto McKenna. He was a 1949 graduate of Ramsay High School; Jack was a Korean war Army veteran serving four years as a cryptologist, he then earned a business degree from Penn State in 1959 and spent over 40 years as an independent system analyst and programmer for defense systems in the United States, England and Germany, later as a contractor in Long Island, NY and vice president of TYX Corp in Reston, VA, retiring in Mount Pleasant after the death of his beloved wife, Rebecca Bobbs McKenna in 1999. Jack was an avid golfer, enjoying trips to Hilton Head with his ranger friends of Donegal Highlands Golf Club and enjoyed lake fishing in Erie and Ontario. Jack was a member of American Legion Post 446 and Firemen's Club, Mt. Pleasant and was an excellent cook, preparing his family favorites, hot pepper chicken and lasagna. Surviving are his children, Sean and Megan McKenna of New York and Christopher McKenna of Mount Pleasant; a sister, Nora Morrison of Twinsburg, OH and brothers, Thomas McKenna of Thailand and James McKenna of Mount Pleasant; also numerous relatives and friends. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 8 PM Wednesday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant (724-547-2122) where services will be held Thursday at 11AM with Rev. Shirley Farino officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
