Joseph T. Blaszkowski Jr. 82 of Mount Pleasant passed away Wednesday July 24, 2013 at his home. Joe was born August 26, 1930 in Mount Pleasant the son of the late Joseph T. Blaszkowski Sr and Roszalia Zionc Blaszkowski. Joe was a 1948 Graduate of Hurst High School, where he was a member of the basketball team, a Korean war veteran serving with the Army, a member of the former Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church and Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. He was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an employee of the State Liquor store, Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446, the Polish Falcons Club, Koscuizsko Club and Shaft Club, Mt. Pleasant. Joe was a devout catholic who loved people and Pittsburgh Sports. Surviving are his children; Mary Hough of Lancaster, Joseph T. Blaszkowski III (Kimmy) of Jeannette, Christopher and Daniel Blaszkowski (Donna) of Greensburg and Lisa Bridges (Rein) of Saltsburg; grandchildren, Rachael Ulery (Brian), Katelyn Holland (Jeff), Jillian, Joseph IV, Jaclyn, Daniel, Joshua (Chelsea), Joey (Melissa) and Danny, Eric Blaszkowski (Jennifer), Mandy Blaszkowski (David), and Dylan Bridges; great grandchildren, Alexis Rose, Dante, Joseph V, Kylie, Aidan,Kane, Riley and Taylor Rose, a brother Edward Blaszkowski (Cecilia) of Ligonier and a sister, Dorothy Bersock of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Thelma Barrick, a son David Blaszkowski; grandson, Tyler Bridges and a brother-in-law, Paul Bersock. The family is inviting friends from 6 to 8PM Saturday and 2 to 4 & 6 to 8PM Sunday to the SALOOM FUNERAL SERVICE, INC 730 W, Main Street Mount Pleasant (724-547-2122) where a blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30AM followed by Joe's funeral mass at 10AM at the Visitation Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant will follow in the Transfiguration Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish Wake service will be held at 3PM Sunday in the funeral home.
