Leo Richard Rudnik Sr. ,age 96 of Scottdale, passed away on Friday April 30th 2026 He was born Jan. 26, 1930 in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Joseph Rudnik Sr. and Virgie Stepanic Rudnik. He was a member of the former Transfiguration Church, was an usher and a member of the Parish council. He graduated from the former East Huntingdon High School Class of `48 ’. He also attended Vale Tech Institute when he pursued a career in Auto Body Repair. He was owner of Rudnik Body Shop in Scottdale and retired from U. S. Steel Edgar Thompson Works in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446. Leo loved to listen to polka music as well as country western. When he wasn’t working on cars, he was outside working in the yard or maintaining the flower beds, Everyday he worked on crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. His motto was ` If you can read, you can do almost anything’, which he did. He was a “Jack of all Trades and Master of Most”. Leo was a Korean veteran and proud to be a member of the United States Marines serving as Corporal. He also was recipient of the, “ Sharp Shooter Medal ” and a member of the engineering corp. He always made time for his family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Fiedor Rudnik, whom he married on May 22, 1954, his son, Leo Jr. of Connellsville, daughters, Cindy Smith of Scottdale and Lynn Ann Demann (Michael) of Powhatan, VA., his grandchildren, Michelle Dietz ( Matt) of Morgantown W Va, Bob Rudnik of Mt. Pleasant, Eric and Alayna DeMann, and great grandchildren Connor, Evan and Ryan Dietz.

A special thank you to the staff of Scottdale Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and nurses of 365 Hospice.

Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant.

Family and friends will be received at the Slater-Rega Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm Visitation will continue Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 am at which time Prayers of Transfer will be held.
