Lewis A. Harrer

Lewis A. Harrer, III 86 of Mount Pleasant peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Amber House, Mt. Pleasant Lewis was born April 7, 1929 in Mount Pleasant the son of Lewis A. and Sara B. Driscoll Harrer. He was a graduate of Ramsay High School, a Korean Army veteran serving with the 110th Infantry, 28th Division as a Personnel Management Specialist attaining the rank of Tech Sargent and an Occupation Medal (Germany). Lewis was a member of the Hilltop United Methodist Church, Madison, PA, the Mt. Pleasant Church Dartball League, a volunteer for many years, and numerous hours at the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg who loved to fish and hunt and spending time at his cabin in Friendsville, MD. As an outreach to the shut-ins, he enjoyed delivering daily bread and caring for over 15 foster children. A loving and caring father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, he is survived by his children, Scott Harrer and wife Bernadine of Connellsville, Debra Kintigh and husband John of New Stanton, Lori Tonecha and husband Jim of Apollo, Timothy Harrer and wife, Susan of Mt. Pleasant, Leslie and Bobby Casino; grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Tommy (Crystal), Jacqueline ( Chad), Stephanie (Dan), John, Stacey (Jeff), Timothy, JoAnna, Colin (Andrea), Christina, Jessica and Travis; great grandchildren, Taia, Jacob, Tanner, Eva, Blake and Josiah; and a sister, Ruth Ann Collins of Connellsville. In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Lee Mansfield Harrer (1996) and a brother Richard Harrer. The family is inviting friends from 4 to 8 PM Thursday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant, PA 15666 (724-547-2122). Services will be held at 11AM Friday at the Hilltop United Methodist Church, Madison with Pastors Randy Sweet and Geary Witt, officiating. Interment with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
