Lois J. Gallo

Lois J. Gallo, 86 of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at her home with her loving husband, daughter and son-in-law at her side.

Lois was born, April 27, 1932 in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Radelja Hitchens. She was a former member of the McKeesport Presbyterian Church, formerly the Central Presbyterian Church for 60 years, a 1950 graduate of McKeesport High School and the Indiana State Teachers College, now known as IUP. Lois was employed as a teacher for the McKeesport Area School District retiring after 37 years of service. She was a 50 year member of the McKeesport College Club, a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association and the Allegheny Retired Education Association.

Surviving is her husband, John Gallo; a daughter, Rhonda J. Gallo Hodge and husband, Kenneth of Alverton; daughter-in-law, Laura Henry Gallo of Boynton Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Martha Duffy Hitchens of Santa Barbara, CA and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by a son, John William Gallo and a brother George H. Hitchens.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday and from 10AM to Noon Thursday at SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant where services will begin at noon Thursday with Rev. Don Hezlep officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, McKeesport.
