Louise A. Immel, 79, of Mt. Pleasant (Bullskin Township), passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018, at South Connellsville Personal Care Home, Connellsville. Louise was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Hannastown, the daughter of the late James Malatesta and Helen Malatesta Piconi. Louise attended Greensburg Salem Schools and was formerly employed by Lenox Crystal, Mt. Pleasant, retiring in 2001 after 35 years of service. She was a member of Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, Mt. Pleasant, and the Bridgeport Sportsman's Club, American Legion Post 446 Ladies auxiliary, an avid bowler for various leagues at Pleasant Lanes, Mt. Pleasant, a Steelers and Pirates fan, and enjoyed visiting the local casinos. Louise was formerly employed by Foodland and volunteered at the Hallmark store in Mt. Pleasant. As a cancer survivor, Louise was very active in breast cancer awareness activities and fundraising. Surviving is her son, Jeff Immel and wife, Sharon, of Connellsville; stepgrandchildren, Jimmy (Lauren) and Adam; stepgreat-grandchildren, Brody and Ramona; nieces, Pam and Tammy Knouse, of Norvelt; and nephews, Albert Cuneo of Pittsburgh, Teddy Cuneo (Ines), of Virginia, Mark Cuneo (Karen), of Greensburg, Joseph Cuneo (Mary), of Mt. Pleasant, and Vince Cuneo, of Greensburg; and great-nieces, Michaela Knouse and Gina Cuneo; also numerous great-nieces and -nephews. Louise was the last surviving member of her family. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George R. "Bob" Immel in 2010; her stepfather, Giovanni Piconi; sisters, Loretta Cuneo, Edith Guidas, Julia Bianconi and Theresa Cohen; a brother, Pietro Piconi; and a brother- and sister-in-law, Ted Cuneo and Betty Knouse. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant. Louise's Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, 353 Bridgeport St., Mt. Pleasant, with Father Joseph F. Mazurkiewicz as celebrant. (Everyone please meet at the church). A wake service will be held at 7pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park Cemetery. A service will be held at 4PM Tuesday by the American Legion ladies auxiliary followed by a wake service at 7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Louise may be made to Transfiguration of Our Lord Church. A wake service will be held Tuesday at 7pm in the funeral home.
