Matthew J. Oris

Matthew J. Oris 73 of Mount Pleasant passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 13, 1937 in Uniontown the son of the late Joseph and Ruth Mathias Oris. Matt was a 1955 Graduate of Ramsay High School, a 1960 Graduate of Duquesne University and a 1989 Graduate of California University of PA with a BS degree in secondary education, a former member of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant and was employed in retail management. After attaining his degree in education he began teaching at St. Mary Elementary School. He was also a Vietnam Veteran, serving with the Navy. Matt was very active with the Boy Scouts of America as a camp director and held various leadership positions, he also was an ameteur ham radio operator and enjoyed biking at Ohiopyle. Surviving are his children, Deborah Taylor of Columbus, OH and Cheryl Perez of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Ava and Hadley Taylor, Alysya and Frank Perez, Jr.; a sister Arlene Denning and husband Chuck of North Huntingdon.
