Nancy L Harkcom 93, formerly of Tarrs, passed away peacefully at Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville, PA on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Nancy was a native of Tarrs, PA, Westmoreland County, where she lived all her life. Nancy was born January 14, 1930, the fourth of nine children to Merle H. and Elsie O. (Stoner) Craig. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harry Richard "Rich" Harkcom, her eldest son, Alvie Craig Harkcom, and siblings, Jane Bitner (Bob), Eleanor Ramsier (Ed), Marian Porch (Carl "Cub"), Glenn Craig (Maxine), Henry Craig, Fred Craig and Sam Craig. She is survived by her sibling, Helen Berg (Bill) of the Villages, FL and a sister-in-law, Peggy Craig. She is also survived by her sons; Harry R. "Dick"' Harkcom Jr. and wife, Melanie, of New Holland, PA, William Scott Harkcom and companion, Dianne Petrunak of Pennsylvania Furnace; grandsons: William T. Harkcom, Jesse L. Harkcom, Lucas C. Harkcom, Timothy C. Harkcom, Jeffre Harkcom, Casey J. Harkcom and Greyson J. Harkcom; great grandchildren, Kolby, Conner, Madeleine and Julian also numerous nieces and nephews. After her marriage to Rich, they moved to his family farm just outside of Tarrs. Soon after, they built a house near the farm,where they raised their family and spent many happy years together. Nancy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant and was a member of the Rubo class. Nancy also enjoyed singing in the church choir. She worked for many years as a teacher with the Mt. Pleasant/Scottdale Head Start Program. Nancy and Rich enjoyed their many travels with the Penns Woods Sunrays and Ridge Runners camping groups. The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the staff of the Haven at Valley View Retirement Community for their compassion and excellent care. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7pm Monday at SLATER-REGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE 730 WEST MAIN STREET, MT. PLEASANT where services will be held at 10:30am Tuesday with Rev Bob Ellson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs.
