Raymond K. Cross, Sr.

Raymond K. Cross, Sr. 64 of Tarrs, passed away Tuesday August 5, 2014 at the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Ray was born February 5, 1950 in Mount Pleasant the son of the late Harry Cross Sr. and Dolores Biller Cross. Ray was a graduate of Geibel High School, Connellsville. He was a Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War, a member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post 446 serving as Adjutant. Ray was an avid golfer holding memberships at the Norvelt and Donegal Highlands Golf Clubs and coached Southmoreland Midget Footall from 1989-93 and was an assistant Basketball coach at Southmoreland High School in the mid 90's. He was an avid fan and proud season ticket holder of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ray was formerly employed by US Steel Corp and Anchor Hocking Corp and self employed as a painter. Surviving are his wife Gloria Goretsky Cross; children Raymond K. Cross, Jr. and wife Melissa of Lutherville, MD and Nicole Pruchnic and husband Sean of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Samuel and Nathaniel Cross and Isabella Pruchnic; brothers, Harry Cross, Jr, Stephen Cross and wife Denise and Tim Cross and wife Sharon all of Scottdale and Frank Cross of Everson; also nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and David Cross. Friends are invited from 4-9PM Thursday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant (724-547-2122) where a blessing service will be held at 9:30AM Friday with Rev. Richard J. Kosisko officiating. Interment with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Connellsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ray's memory may be made the Disabled American Veterans Westmoreland Chapter 35 PO Box 1763 248 W. Otterman Street Greensburg, PA 15601.
