Rebekah S. Knopp 66 of Carpentertown ( Mt. Pleasant Twp), passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Excela Health-Frick Hospital. Rebekah was born August 18, 1949 in Mount Pleasant the daughter of the late Richard E. Eberhart Sr. and Nancy Guest Eberhart. Rebekah was a 1966 graduate of Southmoreland High School, a former member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion and was a member of the Hecla Volunteer Fire Department, the pioneer of becoming the first woman in the department and establishing the opportunity for others to join. As a retired firefighter of the department, she belonged to the Westmoreland County Firefighters Association. Rebekah traveled with her husband, a truck driver, visiting every state from Alaska to Mexico and everywhere between, her life was surrounded around her family, as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are her husband, John E. Knopp, Sr.; children, Kimberly Garland of Pleasant Unity, Timothy (TJ) Knopp of Carpentertown, Michael Knopp and wife Kristy of Whitney, Dianna McBryar and husband Dale of Dawson, David Knopp and wife Amanda of Hecla and Stephen Knopp and wife Susan of Mt. Pleasant; numerous grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Betsy Weaver and husband Roy of Grafton, OH, brothers, Michael Eberhart of Scottdale and Brett Eberhart and wife Sara of Pleasant Unity and a brother-in-law, Louis Knopp, Sr. and wife Anita of Derry. In addition to her parents, Rebekah was preceded in death by her brother Richard E. Eberhart, Jr. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM Monday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant 724-547-2122 where services will be held at 11AM Tuesday with Pastor Neil Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Twp.
