Richard F. Kovacs

Richard F. Kovacs 82 of Acme (Bear Rocks) passed away July 17, 2015 at his home. Richard was born November 29, 1932 in Duquesne the son of the late Arpad and Katherine Nulacy Kovacs. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, was honorably discharged, and received Good Conduct and National Defense Medals. He was retired from US Steel Corp. where he worked on Barges and in the weld. Richard was also an accomplished, self-taught artist and excelled in commercial and fine art, creating numerous portraits for his friends in the Army, of his family and at his job. He also enjoyed music, playing the accordion and harmonica and writing contemplative poetry. Richard was a faithful member of St. Raymond of the Mountain Church, Donegal. Surviving are his daughter Sandra Saldanha and her husband Derek of Marietta, GA and granddaughters, Ayesha and Sabine. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister Gloria Pack. The family is inviting friends from 9 to 10 AM Saturday to St. Raymond of the Mountains Catholic Church 164 Schoolhouse Lane Donegal, PA 15628 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM wit Rev. Thaddeus J. Kaczmarek as celebrant. Interment with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 446 Mt. Pleasant will follow in St. Raymond Cemetery.
