Robert C. Burd, 69 of Connellsville passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at his home. Bob was born May 13, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant the son of the late William C. and Virginia Purinton Burd. Bob attended the Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren, was a 1964 graduate of East Huntingdon High School and a Vietnam War veteran serving with the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic attaining the rank of Sergeant. Bob was a member of American Legion Post 446, VFW Post 3368, Mt. Pleasant, Connellsville Elks #503, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Slovak Club, Connellsville and the Bridgeport Sportsmen's Club, Mt. Pleasant. Bob was employed as a purchasing agent for Comptec Inc, Irwin retiring after 27 years of service. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying golf, football and basketball and played softball for various teams in the area. Surviving are his sisters, Nancy Burd and Peggy Lancaster and husband Raymond of Mt. Pleasant, a niece Ashleigh and fiance' Mike Green; his girlfriend Garnet Clark and mother-in-law, Louella Tissue of Dunbar Twp.; his dog, Maggie and is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; also close friends Norm and Slug. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Tissue Burd in 2008, a daughter, Melissa Burd in 2011 and his father-in-law Dale Tissue.
