Romelia "Mimi" D'Amato 83 of Mount Pleasant passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe. Mimi was born January 28, 1930 in Mt. Pleasant the son of the late Silvio and Sabia Ninetta Tomei D'Amato. Mimi was a Korean War veteran serving with the Army. He was retired from Lenox Glass Factory, Mt. Pleasant, a member of American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant for over 60Years and a member of St. Pius X Church, Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed working in his garden and fishing. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Veronica Bienia D'Amato; a sister, Helen Nedrow of New Kensington; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Kauffman of Hunker and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mimi was preceded in death by his brothers, Dominic, Rudolph and George D'Amato, a sister Mary Winzek, brothers-in-law, Leonard Winzek, John and Lawrence Bienia and a sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth Steiner. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM Tuesday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE, INC 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant (724-547-2122) where a blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9:30AM followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in the St. Pius X Church Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment with miltary honors conducted by American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant will follow in St. Pius X Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held Tuesday at 3PM in the funeral home.
