Roy "RJ" J. Kunkle

Roy J. "RJ" Kunkle 82 of Stahlstown, Donegal Twp. passed away Tuesday March 10, 2015 at his home. RJ was born December 4, 1932 in Kregar the son of the late Emory and Florence Barron Kunkle. He was a member of the Kregar Community Church, Stahlstown, a Korean War veteran serving with the Navy, honorably discharged with a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. RJ was a carpenter employed by Labor Union 1058 and Carpenter Union Local 2274, he also farmed his land located in Donegal Twp. He was a member of American Legion Post 941 Donegal and VFW Post 6742 Jones Mills. Surviving are his companion of thirteen years, Elaine Durstine: children, Roy E. Kunkle of Des Moines, IA, Bryan C. Kunkle and wife Crystal of Jones Mills, Paul J. Kunkle and wife Natalie of Acme, Connie Dennison and husband Rick of Jones Mills, Patricia L Kunkle of Stahlstown, Sandra R. Simmons and husband, James of Dallas, TX and Amy L. Kunkle of Stahlstown; grandchildren, Matthew Kunkle, Mark and Brianna Hissem, Deanna, Raymond and Chelsea Kunkle and Ashely Brehm-Wynkoop; great grandchildren, Sirena Fischer and Cameron Kunkle; a brother, Wenzel "Bud" Kunkle and wife Mabel of Jones Mills and sisters, Dorothy Gregor of Mt. Pleasant, Rosella DeWitt of Acme and Cecelia Hauger and husband Keith of Stahlstown. In addition to his parents, RJ was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Charlotte A. Marietta Kunkle, March 14, 2001. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 8PM Friday and 9 to 11AM Saturday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant 724-547-2122 where services will be held at 11AM Saturday with Rev. Keith Hauger officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 941 and VFW Post 6742 will follow in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
