Sarah A. Clifford

Sarah A. Clifford, 89 of Mt. Pleasant, passed peacefully with her family at her side on December 16, 2018 at the Riverside Care Center, McKeesport. Sarah was born July 12, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant the daughter of the late Austin and Madie Griggs Thomas. Sarah was a 1947 graduate of East Huntingdon High School and later in life furthered her education by attending Seton Hill College and was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. She was a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant and was formerly employed in the health field by Latrobe Hospital, Monsour Medical Center and Westmoreland Manor. Sarah was also a Notary Public, employed by Montgomery Ward and wrote Black History Month articles for many years for the Mt. Pleasant Journal. Sarah was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Clifford; and also preceded in death by her nine siblings. Surviving are her devoted and loving children, Ira Clifford of Connellsville, Nancy Cox-Gilmore of McKeesport and Celeste Clifford of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Vernon J. Cox, III, Anthony Cox, Brandi Cox, Richard Gilmore (Erica), Seanlou Gilmore, Thomeesha Gilmore, Joshua Gilmore, Sade Gilmore, Sirzyon Edwards-Cox, Joel Salih, Jr. and Ausha Salih Reitz (Patrick); also 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM Friday at SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mt. Pleasant and from 10 to 11AM Saturday at the Second Baptist Church 510 Washington Street Mt. Pleasant where services will be held at 11AM with Rev. Dr. William H. Terry officiating.
