Suzanne (Sue) Burkus

Suzanne (Sue) Burkus, 63, of Mt Pleasant, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, after losing a battle to cancer. Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Sue was a fighting inspiration to her family and friends.

She was born in Mt Pleasant on August 28, 1954 to John and Rose Kowalczyk. She is survived by her husband John of 42 yrs, two children, Melissa (wife Katherine), John "Butch"; two grandchildren, Elliott and Avery; siblings John Kowalczyk (Linda), Barbara Shaffer (Robert) and Marilyn Forbes (Jack), and by a number of nieces and nephews. Sue was a champion when it came to people. She knew everyone and everyone knew her. Her friendly smile and demeanor would light up a room. Her hobby was not a secret, she loved to travel to Atlantic City with John. She enjoyed gardening and sitting on the back porch with a cup of coffee. She had a love of Pittsburgh sports and spent many Saturdays down at Pitt football games, hanging with friends and tailgating. There was never a dull moment with Sue Burkus. Her love and laughter will live on forever. She will be so dearly missed.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 7 PM Wednesday at SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W Main Street Mt. Pleasant where a memorial service will be held at 7PM followed by a reception at the Mount Pleasant Fireman's Club.
