Theresa P. Matsey

Theresa P. Matsey 90 of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant.  Theresa was born October 10, 1932 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Fiedor Gazda.  Theresa was a 1950 graduate of Hurst High School and was a member of St John Byzantine Catholic church, Scottdale where she was active as a Sunday CCD teacher and a member of the Rosary Society.  She was formerly employed as a seamstress/operator at the Union Apparel Co. formerly AMCO.  She also volunteered at Excela Health Frick Hospital for over 40 years.  Theresa is survived by her niece and caregivers, Christina Gazda (Michael Dillon, deceased) of Scottdale and nephew Stephen M. Matsey (Cindy) of Scottdale; a sister, Rose Marie Radzilowski; sisters in law, Lucille Gazda and Mary Ann Gazda and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Victor M. Matsey and brothers, Joseph Gazda Sr. and Frank Gazda. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Amber house for their kind care of Theresa. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 2 to 7pm at SLATER-REGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES where a Panachida service will be held at 9:30am Thursday, April 27, 2023 followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10am at St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Scottdale with Fr. Oleh Seremchuk officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. John Byzantine Cemetery.
