Walter A. Negri 90 of Hunker passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Scottdale Manor, Scottdale. Walter was born March 12, 1924 in Jeannette the son of the late Joseph and Lucy McKnight Negri. Walter was a World War II veteran serving with the Navy aboard the DD686 Halsey Powell attaining the rank of Quartermaster. He was employed as a conductor for Conrail retiring after 38 years of service and was a life member of VFW Post 211, Youngwood. Surviving are his son Joseph Negri and wife Pamela of Ruffsdale; grandchildren, Sara R. Negri, Ryan C. Negri and wife Renee, Erin R. Negri and Jacob M. Negri; a great granddaughter, Brynn Negri; stepchildren, Bruce Ogekirk and wife Sue Carlson of Bend, OR, Debbie Williams and husband Phil of Hillsboro, OR and Linda Bainbridge and husband Jon of Warren, OR. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Cooper Negri. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM Wednesday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant 724-547-2122 where services will be held at 10:30AM Thursday with Pastor Bonnie King Officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.
